BAILO BAILO, the Musical by Raffaella Carrà, freely adapted by Federico Bellone from the film Explota Explota Explota directed by Nacho Álvarez in 2020, will have its world premiere in Madrid's Gran Vía at the renovated Teatro Capitol de Gran Vía.
The show features music and lyrics by several authors, libretto by Federico Bellone and Nacho Álvarez, direction by Federico Bellone, choreography by Gillian Bruce, musical supervision by Giovanni Maria Lori and production by Valeria Arzenton.
The musical tells the story of María, a young, sensual dancer with a desire for freedom in the early seventies, a time in Spain marked by rigidity and censorship, especially on television. With her we will discover how even the most difficult of dreams can become reality, all told through Rafaela Carrá's greatest hits.
Everything revolves around 6 protagonists in search of themselves, but also of their path, their human and professional growth and success. Their search will take them to Madrid, Rome and the airport where the paths of the 3 main characters cross: Maria, Pedro and Rosabella. Maria has just been abandoned by her ex for no reason and sets off with a suitcase for her future.
